Christopher Oketch

Christopher is the Managing and Founding Partner at Matheka Oketch & Company. He is a graduate of the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (LLB) and an Advocate of the High Court.

He is also a Notary Public, Commissioner for Oaths, and a Professional Strategy, Legal, and Compliance Practitioner with over 10 years post-admission.

Christopher is the Head of Corporate, Commercial, and Property Law. His main strength is crafting simple legal solutions that enable businesses to overcome complex legal problems. He applies his clear understanding of business to legal interpretation to enable businesses to make sound decisions while realizing their core mandate: profitability. In Property Law, he is involved in ordinary property transactions in emerging areas, including the establishment of Real Estate Investment Trusts. He also acts for several companies involved in development projects and the property advisory sector. Christopher is also a Certified Mediator having been certified by Dispute & Conflict Resolution International in collaboration with the Mediation Training Institute.

John Matheka

John is a Senior Partner at Matheka Oketch Advocates LLP. He is a graduate of The University of Nairobi (LLB) and an Advocate of the High Court. He is currently pursuing a Master's in Environmental Law at the same institution. He is also a Commissioner for Oaths and Notary Public with over 10 years post-admission.

John is the Head of the Conveyancing Department. His work encompasses acting on behalf of buyers and sellers in conveyancing transactions, preparing and registering documents relating to properties including agreements of sale, transfer, and leases; sectional property transactions, rectification and replacement of lost titles; extension of leasehold titles; registration of interests in land including prohibition, restriction and caution and processing of stamp duty exemptions.

Joseph Gathogo Kibe

Joseph is a Lawyer at Matheka Oketch Advocates LLP specializing in commercial and corporate law, dispute resolution, and Litigation. He is a graduate of the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (LLB) and has been with the firm for the last seven years.

Joseph is the Head of Dispute Resolution and Litigation. Joseph's work encompasses advising and preparing documentation for various property acquisitions, disposals, and developments and seeing the same through to registration; advising clients extensively on security documentation, Franchising, and Licensing Agreements, dealing with business establishments in Kenya and advising and preparing documentation in the acquisition of private companies and businesses. Joseph is also a Certified Arbitrator and a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

Sylvia Sankei

Sylvia is an Associate at Matheka Oketch Advocates LLP specializing in Corporate Compliance, Real Estate, litigation, and Dispute Resolution. She is a graduate of the University of Nairobi (LLB) and an Advocate of the High Court. She has over 5 years of post-admission experience.

Sylvia helps manage company policies to minimize legal risks, advises senior management, and ensures compliance with industry regulations.Sylvia has currently been seconded by the firm to one of our clients company where she helps in managing the Company policies, to minimize the possibility of legal risks. Advising of senior management on various legal issues affecting corporate governance. Legal liaison between the Firm and the Company, staying updated on legislation concerning the Company’s specified industry and compliance of applicable laws and regulations.

Sarah Mwangi

Sarah is a Lawyer at Matheka Oketch Advocates LLP specializing in Family Law, Conveyancing, Succession, Tax Consultancy, and Legal Drafting. She is a graduate of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (LLB).

Sarah has over 3 years of experience in Tax consultancy, she also handles legal briefs in commercial litigation, family matters, probate and succession, employment and labor laws, and general commercial advisory. She researches a variety of Legal topics, drafts legal opinions and court documents and pleadings. She is also the executive assistant to the Partners a role she discharges by aiding the Managing Partner in the day-to-day tasks, overseeing client schedules, coordinating court filings and attendances as well as aiding the managing partner in the conduct of legal research.

Esther Ndegwa

Esther is an Associate at Matheka Oketch Advocates LLP specializing in Corporate Compliance, Real Estate, Litigation, and Dispute Resolution. She is a graduate of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (LLB) and an Advocate of the High Court.

Esther is a resourceful young mind who has currently been seconded by the firm to one of our diet's companies where she helps in managing the company policies to minimize the possibility of Legal risks, Advising Senior management on various legal issues affecting corporate governance, Legal liaison between the Firm and the Company, staying updated on legislation concerning the Company's specified industry and compliance of applicable laws and regulations. She has further interests in Conveyancing, Employment Law, and Family Law.

Hellen Kiptoo

Hellen is the Office Manager at Matheka Oketch Advocates LLP. She ensures the firm's daily operations run smoothly.

Hellen works closely with clients and the firm’s staff to ensure professional service delivery and efficient coordination.
